This movie really surprise me I have to say. I can't say that ashton kutcher is the actor that i really admire but this is his best work for sure. Mostly this piece is a time travel movie. It seem like a piece about fate but really the idea is to explore about how everything we do everyday will forever make the changes in our lives. The young cast are fine performers also. They take us on a journey that cuts constantly behind and then in front of time and shows the many ways how time works. The idea was also used for the movie Sliding Doors but this piece is so much darker and thrilling. Please do not be deterred by Ashton Kuthcher or thinking this movie is too Hollywood. The structure, yes, is quite challenging and for the first part maybe you are thinking too many fragments to keep interest but slowly the intrigue is building and the ending is sad and beautiful more like a European art house film.

  • Moving, powerful, beautiful

I saw this movie last year at the ECU film festival in Paris and still to this day, I think about it often. I am not familiar with Australian movies but I am so grateful the organizers of the festival have selected this movie. The concept of healing the soul was really disturbing to me and very powerful. It made me change the way I view negative past experience. The idea I had of Australia was beaches, surf and ice cream but the decor is more like a Scandinavian thriller movie. The music has great beauty and makes the movie really haunting. This is a deep analysis of a man's life into the darkest places in his head. The cast was really well chosen and their performances shows so much courage and intelligence. This is the first movie for this director and I am impatient to see more of his work.

  • One of the best French movie ever made

Moving, thrilling, upsetting, The Old Gun is a piece of art with beautiful performances. I love the pace, which adds to the suspense and helps the viewer empathize with the main character, played by Philippe Noiret who slowly becomes the people who he is chasing. Above all, a beautiful love story that take place at the wrong time and the wrong place. If you are interested in movies that star the icon Philippe Noiret, that most people would know from the Italian classic cinema Paradiso, then you should watch some of his earlier work like this French master piece. The scene that really defines this intense movie is when Philippe Noiret kills a German officer from the other side of a mirror. it's an example of how this film is a piece of pure cinema and the dialogue kept to a minimum.
