  • Seriously funny, now more than ever!

I remember seeing this show when I was young, found it very funny and entertaining back then even though i was quite young.

Now that I have gotten older I realize the actual depth of this show and how the creators were so much before their time when it came to analyzing and mocking the media environment. Through the entertainment/comedy-front there is an immense sense of irony and sarcasm throughout the episodes that actually tells you the sometimes tragic truth about the media, stuff we don't want to be aware of as media consumers.

What's respectful about this production is, like i wrote earlier, the creators were so much ahead of their time when creating "En himla många program". The irony feels much more in place when comparing it to todays media environment than it did back in 1989's Swedish media culture. Before the invention of reality shows and "quick ways to fame through whatever means necessary", subjects like these are displayed in "En himla många program". The show also covers subjects like TV-programs that makes us feel intelligent and important (but they in fact are not), the "need" for TV ads to keep television media functioning (before Swedish TV even had commercial television) and sometimes shows how pointless certain media concepts are. It also compares TV watching/media consuming with drugs or drug addiction (wich i think is so true :)

Of all Galenskaparna and Aftershave's productions I think this is the most respectful work of them all. Even if you don't see every dimension of it you will still have a good laugh.
