  • dont bother

Just wrote a worthy review only for to to disappear. I felt like i was watching an 1980s midday movie as an adaptation of a bad mills n boon novel. Every character predictable down to every word of dialogue. Nonsensical in that the wife had stable hand prep horse, almost got caught but created a distraction then ran off on foot?!??! Absolute garbage despite sort of ok acting, this movie is reserved for bored housewives while bub is taking their midday nap. I think after 5 minutes i could have written the remaining script myself. Yah it had a "twist" but that too was predictable and tedious. Sorry but if i marry a billionaire i am not interested in digging into his past who gives a flying.... enjoy the ride.

  • not entirely terrible

So expected this to be lame in a good way but it is mostly just lame. Eric balfour is a good actor, and for the most part all the acting is pretty good. The shark is laughable, small, unrealistic and boring. The way they find out about the death of their friend is insane she had been missing but a couple of hours, how news anchors already knew she was a victim is ridiculous. The search and rescue sent out on what seems to be a complete wild goose chase with no actual explanation of the "distress signal" they were suppsoedly responding to. So all around an average b grade movie, i have seen much worse and seen much better. It kept me interested enough to watch it through to the end, and there are plenty of movies that are completely unwatchable so points for that.

  • Gorefest!

I started this months ago and for some reason turned it off. Went back to it tonight and wow it was really good value. Australian movies can be really hit and miss but when they hit they do it in an incredible way. The "hillbillies" not sure what we call em in australia... were creepy af, stomach turning animals that just having crossed their math was a nightmare. The insinuated level of depravity of these 3 was way way despicable. The hubby was portaited a bit too weak for my liking, but it gave the wife a chance to shine and take on this whole situation with brutality and no mercy. What she did to the dad was magic, unique and memorable. Gory, exciting and well done. The atmosphere worked. All round a great watch.

  • Could have been great

The movie was good but the main character is just so annoying. She never speaks, never answers anyone, is surly as heck, and just very frustrating in all ways. Besides her character being unpleasant the premise acting directing was all good. Unsure why she was made so unlikeable. Interesting commentary on racism, religious discrimination, dysfunctional families, women trying to take their power back in a patriachal society. Every character has a messed up family, which is probably overstating the problem... or maybe not. Good watch despite the character letting it down somewhat. Worth the watch.

  • really??

So i read reviews which were very mixed so tried to give it a go. Acting is atrocious. Wolf creek guy is just comedic. Stereotypical gay guy is well stereotypical with frighteningly botoxed lips. Mad arse steam punk DJ dating a straight boring aussie bloke? Not likely. And umm just for u americans, those red plastic baskets used at restaurants do NOT exist in australia... so just annoying they added such an american prop that doesnt belong in an aussie movie. It just doesnt work on any level. Special effects definitely good but totally surrounded by crap dialogue, acting, story they dont hold up.

So many reviews how great this is... are we meant to say we liked it to show our intellect and that we "get" it... it was dull and had no context. It was clear what was going on, maybe best put by doctor who that time is all wibbly wobbly but seriously what a waste of time and effort to try and find something worthwhile in this mess of pseudo hibrow pretence. How it is classed as a thriller is entirely beyond me there is definitely nothing thrilling interesting or engaging. Is it meant to be thought provoking? If so it was way to painful to watch to ponder the meaning of life or take any pearls of wisdom from.

  • the WORST

This movie is absolute garbage, completely unwatchable, the acting is atrocious, dialogue/script ridiculous and the execution just fails beyond belief ... why this even got made i do not know. Its cringe how bad the whole storyline is!! Just nothing at all redeemable about this pile of crap. Do not watch do not watch do not watch do not watch and have i mentioned DO NOT WATCH the monster in his $20 halloween costume is laughable and the "twist" is well its SO funny it is the one minute of movie that truly makes it a comedy. There is nothing else to say about this except do not watch save your time find something else.

What a waste of time.. no depth, no character background, no point. Cannot believe Keanu Reeves actually involved himself in this bitterly empty, stupid, confusing piece of crap

  • What a ride!!!

I was so pleased that someone had mentioned to me Split was part of this trilogy, as I had no idea.. so rewatching unbreakable and split prior to seeing it is definitely worth doing so the characters are fresh in your mind. James McAvoy is just astounding in his ability to truly BE the characters, giving them truth and depth and even the ability to change his actual physique to some degree. I LOVE these characters, the storyline and everything about this.

  • Really great drama!

I enjoy the detailed plots, never really knowing who the culprit is, lots of twists and turns. Only negative is i dont think (only half way through season 2) but i do not think ANYONE has been happy. Everyone so serious, all the time, there's no happy interludes, after work drinks, home life happiness. Its all quite doom and gloom, and although makes it quite atmospheric, it sort of feels a bit odd that noone ever smiles!! I'm sure the Welsh arent so grim!! :)
