A tension packed ride filmed in one shot depicting a stressful night in a fine dinning restaurant. The direction is filled with fast camera movements as we follow the chef and the employees of the restaurant just trying to make it through a busy Friday night. The single shot technique creates the illusion that you are in the middle of the kitchen, backrooms and other small spaces of the restaurant following the characters as they got through some truly anxiety producing events. The acting is just perfect. Everyone is magnificently cast and they play they role to flawlessly, headed by Stephen Graham as the chef of the restaurant. Just a fantastic movie, with great pacing, that utilizes the single shot technique marvelously providing an entertaining and engaging experience.
Doing a prequel to one of the best TV shows ever made is no easy feat but Better Call Saul knocks it out of the park! It builds on the Breaking Bad universe further fleshing out and defying some of the recurring characters in the series while also introducing memorable storylines and new characters as well. It does it on a very high level with top notch cinematography, great scripts with a dash of humor, superb editing while further developing one of the most interesting Breaking Bad supporting players. Bob Odenkirk is fantastic as usual as the titular character stealing every scene he is in which is not an easy thing to do given the great all around cast of the series.
This is a movie like no other before. It has a truly unique story which starts of with a tax audit and ends up in places you never could imagined. Visually stunning, funny script, some great action pieces, wonderfully acted, superbly edited and creative from start to the end. One of the best movies of 2022 for sure and a film that surely will go down as one the most memorable films in the last decade.
