Headlined by two pros Benning and Neil - I had such high hopes but I honestly can't believe how 'not great' this is. It feels like the director kept saying 'more' in every scene. There is ZERO subtlety in what is supposed to be a mystery. Writing is poor, scenes are rushed and the whole things feels campy at best.
This is a beach read book attempting to be a White Lotus but it just doesn't deliver. Don't get me wrong, it's watchable but nothing more that a soap opera drama in this production.
It didn't help that Paramount requires commercials dragging this out even further that it should. Black.

Loved the characters, the sets, the timing and the plot although a bit predictable the story was still told in a unique way. I don't mind a slow burn.
That said, I would have loved for this to be a series that had the time to explore the characters even more...maybe even their backstories and how they became so troubled. The character development felt rushed yet there was so much surprise and intrigue around every corner.
Also, did an entire section of the movie involving Carrie Mulligan get cut in editing? I dont know how you cast such an incredible talent for such a small (albeit unique) but fairy insignificant role?

Bowie is an all time great ... for a movie about this incredible artist you'd think they could have perfected the sound quality and balance better - it was a mess. Volume uo/down the entire movie.... 90% of the film is constant random images dropped in over muffled Bowie interviews and grainy concert footage.
Time jumps constantly from decade to decade, no progression of his career - again like the editing room just threw it all in at random.
If all of this imagery, overload music and randomness was meant to mirror Bowie from a style perspective it was a mistake. Made the film frustrating to sit through - at 60min in I gave up and I LOVE BOWIE.
