Watching two out of touch, trend chasing Americans destroy the rich history of a charming chateau in France is extremely painful. You don't need to "renovate" or "open concept" anything. You need to chill and stop dumping France's rich cultural heritage into the landfill.
The show is filled with fake drama, Chinese mail order furniture, Amazon lighting, and a episode packed full of the destruction of this building's historic fabric. I'm shocked that the DRAC would allow these types of projects to go through. Tossing the original windows and doors into the trash heap from the hunters lodge was a tragedy. As was sawing the original solar beams in half and chucking them out a window.

Extremely well written and well acted. Loved every second of every episode. Completely enthralling and keep you binge watching. For all of thise complaining about the dreaded F word or sex scenes, welcome to real life. This is how people act, talk, and behave. Grow up. If you don't like it, put some cartoons on.
For any normal people reading this, if you enjoy period pieces, this one is superb! Who cares if it's an exact replica of the history. This is television. Just watch it and enjoy it. The locations, wardrobe, and art direction are fabulous. The real standout of the entire series is Julianne Moore. This role was made for her and she makes this role!

While I do appreciate what they are trying to do, I wish this team would seek a little more education about what historic preservation actually is. Please, someone show Jen how to design a historically sensitive kitchen, bathroom, or laundry room. Stop using big box products. No more recessed can lights. No more plastic switches and plate cover. No more bellacro lights. No more builders series hardware, hinges, etc. No more plastic windows.
With just a bit more experience or education or thoughtfulness on how to spend their budget, this team could be creating true masterpieces that should be preserved forever. Right now, at least in season one, it seems like a somewhat low end flipper show.
