  • Every good detective story plus

The mystery in this production was intricate enough to keep interest, and the acting was excellent. However, it is the personal tragedies of the main characters that are the most interesting things in the story, and the lead actors bring this across very well. (I wonder why we don't see Sharon Small in other things. ) Both Lynley and Havers are complex characters that are compelling. Anyone could enjoy this, even if this is the viewer's first Lynley/Havers story. However, those who have seen these characters through the earlier story's will more appreciate the nuances of the principal characters. Unlike many movies, much less television shows, the characters' pasts impact the present in clear ways that keep the viewer emotionally involved.

This was a very enjoyable entry in the Inspector Lynley Mysteries.

  • Very enjoyable show

I have watched Numb3rs from the first episode, although I've missed a couple, and enjoyed all I've seen. The mysteries are interesting and, while I was a liberal arts major and am not into mathematics, the way mathematics is used is clever and similar to what is being done in real life in England today. I particularly like the interactions between the leads.I've always found Rob Morrow a bit bland, but he's good in this. Additionally, David Krumholtz gives an excellent and very nuanced performance. He played a child actor/egomaniac in Life with Mikey, a Michael J. Fox vehicle, and was very good in that. However, his performance in Numbers shows thathe has certainly matured as an actor. Judd Hirsch is very good, too,but a tad mannered at times. Samantha Lloyd is good, but I'd like to see her get more screen time and her character more back story and more of a future. All in all, this is a very enjoyable show, and I recommend it to those who enjoy police shows and those who enjoy something a little different.

  • Very entertaining

I saw this program years ago and greatly enjoyed it. The twists in the plot are definitely twisty. A viewer is never quite sure what will happen next. Of course, this is not Citizen Kane, but it is TV well done, British-style. A viewer has to be willing to let the plot evolve at its own pace; in my mind, this is typical of British dramas and thrillers. The acting is also quite good. Hywell Bennett is excellent to the extent that I almost wanted to root for his, at best, sleazy character. I don't know if anyone will ever have a chance to see this again, but if you find it is showing on some obscure channel, it's worth the investment of time and attention.
