I watched this Christmas movie in the beginning of July and loved every second of it. It's not trying to do or be anything other than what it is. The story is typical RomCom kind of stuff with the Christmas cheer thrown in for good measure. The actors all play their parts well , no exaggeration, no campy or crude jokes. This is genuinely a sweet movie , in the very best way possible. I loved it. It's beautifully filmed and the music is pleasant and unintrusive unlike a lot of it's gay themed predecessors. Anybody who doesn't have a problem with the idea of male couples should enjoy this movie as much as I did. Ten Stars.
Honestly , I had very low expectations coming to this movie. I was expecting it to be a little cringe and maybe even fetishize the Indian /white boy relationship , play a bit into the stereotypes of anti gay or, at least , less accepting Indian families. Truth is , this movie manages to cirumvent all of the many pitfalls that harms so many gay romcoms. There is no sex apart from one very tame bedroom scene , it's all about the love between the two main characters for each other and for their families. No over the top queens or token woke stuff that makes a lot of current "queer" cinema almost unwatchable for all but the most indoctrinated . It really is just a gay love story , maybe not the most realistic movie that you'll ever see but it is uplifting and , I think, shouldn't alienate viewers; regardless of their position on the rainbow spectrum. Hopefully , even straight audiences could enjoy this too, as it doesn't push any agenda in particular , just the importance of personal and familial love and mutual respect. In short , I gave it a 10 and highly recommend it to anyone hoping to escape for an hour or so into a world of love , fun and music. Loved it.
Casper Andreas has made some interesting and entertaining movies , this is not one of them. Give it a miss. It made me want to gauge my eyes out and , more essentially , my ears. If you don't mind being screamed at by a bunch of boring queens played by insanely awful actors, then you might enjoy this crud but if you still have any functioning brain cells that your prefer to hold on to then run... run hard, run fast... run as far away as you can get from this pile of trash. This is the kind of movie that gives gay cinema the terrible name and reputation that it has despite recent improvements in some cases. This would have to have been ten times better than it was to deserve the single star I gave so that I could warn you not to wait a second of your precious time on earth watching this foul excrement. I've has more interesting films on my feet after eating Belgian chocolate. I didn't like it...at all.
