  • Shockingly authentic.

Delhi Crime is yet another Indian television series helmes by Netflix created by the very talented Richie Mehta and it is based on the true story revolving around one of the most shocking rape cases namely the Nirbhaya case. Right off the bat, Netflix is bringing out the best in India and are allowing creators to showcase everything openly without fearing censor certification and for a show like this that is absolutely necessary. This show is brutal and gritty, incredibly simple in it's making and so raw in it's storytelling and still manages to fascinate people. Throughout the 7 episodes you will follow along the lives of the police officers and the officials and their families as they try to deal with the case and catch the criminals all while facing the raging public and media. First of all, the best thing about the show is the way it is made. The entire crew devoted their time to make this show incredibly realistic as if we are witnessing it in person. The camera shots are beautiful yet very simple. The background score is soft and mild without booming music and yet very haunting. The writing is simple and elegant and it feels like people talking rather than words on a printed script. The performances are lifelike and genuine with each and every cast member pulling out their best. Not even one person feels out of place here and all this combines to make a riveting experience which is backed up by a solid amount of good research. Delhi Crime is incredible and a show that is absolutely worth your time. Netflix, you are saving Indian media.

  • Brilliance.

This episode is the long-waited battle episode after the previous 2 episodes taking a more slow and character focused storytelling. Everything we have waited is finally here and they did a fantastic job with it. Amazing visuals, fantastic soundwork, amazing performances and brilliant action choreography, fantastic camerawork, I could go on and on about the good things in the episode and it won't end. A truly mesmerizing episode. No matter what anyone says, this in itself is an amazing episode to watch, filled with tension and surprises and emotion. There a few logial issues that when we think sometimes some stuff doesn't make sense, and as a fan I've been waiting for an encounter with the night king for so long, some fans might be happy with how it came around, some might not so there is that. Overall, the episode is fantastic, mighty entertaining to watch. I personally am a little bugged by how it ended but nevertheless this goes down in game of thrones history as one of the best episodes out there. A true testament to why game of thrones is so great. Hats off to the creators.

  • Lucifer is entertaining and that's it.

So Lucifer is here and it was one of the most anticipated films to come out this year. Talks of this film were out many years ago and finally it's out and the responses have been mind-blowing. I myself got to see it a few days ago and while I do think the movie is great, I do think the whole 'lucifer is a masterclass' talk is false. So let's start with the good stuff. The movie has 3 main things to it which is Prithviraj's direction, mohanlal's utilisation and mohanlal's screen presence and finally Murali gopy's writing. Prithviraj is great here. His direction doesn't look like a debut. The movie looks amazing shot in mesmerizing 1:2:8 aspect ratio give us some gorgeous wide angle shots, clean looking action scenes, great use of tracking shots, it's all here and it's all good. Prithviraj knows what the fans want to see from Mohanlal and that is exactly what is displayed here and Mohanlal pulls that off in grand fashion because that's what he does best. There are some great dialogues here, references to other Mohanlal films and a ton of nods to other films as well which are great. There are 27 characters in the film and while most of the characters have very little screen time because of such a large number, they utilise that well and give of great performances. Vivek Oberoi, Tovino Thomas and Manju Warrier are the best after Mohanlal to give of captivating performances. However, the plot by itself is rather similar to us. It's not something new, however the stories inside the plot are where it shines. The political aspects, and the in built stories of what all other characters go through are great but overall story not that great. So overall Lucifer is an enjoyable film and I'd recommend it to people not for the over arching story but for the beautiful look of the film, some really badass scenes and Mohanlal in all his grandeur.
