  • I love this film

I don't write reviews even for my own films but I have to take the time and write this review. I love this movie, love love it. Everything about it. Especially the love for the dogs from the main character. He is an amazing actor. The story. The music . The cinematography...It's very special.

I normally don't watch drama or dog movies because it's sad, it's depressing and when the dogs died in the films, it feel like I need to get therapy to get over it but this film is not that. It's still an uplifting film despite its drama. Just as the main character, despite what happened, he still is so well mannered, well spoken and his love for the dogs is still the same.

Thank you for making the film. Thank you.

  • An endearing film

    This movie is very endearing.

You can tell that the filmmakers really love the Godfathers and other Italian mafia movies growing up as well as the love for Hong Kong Cinema. The thing I appreciate the most about the film is the fact that they took away the brutality of mafia mob films smuggling and killing people to smuggling spices and olive oil. We were laughing the whole time when Vinny tried to launder Olive Oil in Chinatown. Come on, if it's vegetable oil, no problem son, not Olive Oil. And the 30 percent discount at the deli is hilarious. The actor who played Hung Phat is a Hong KongTVB legend doing his iconic legendary villain laugh brought me back to my childhood memories watching all those Hong Kong fantasy martial arts series.

Vinny character is also very sincere and the actor is very likable.

The movie did make me giggle throughout and I can see the love of the filmmakers honoring the homage of what they loved in the old school cinema.

If you look for a fun, entertaining film which can help you relax after a long day at work. This is it. Have some Chinese take out with Tiger beers or some salami with red wine , then you will have an awesome time.

  • Wow, A " I forgot to breathe while watching" film

In a few scenes and many moments of this film, I forgot to breathe. That is how awesome the movie is. I don't write reviews for film but I need to write one for this movie. Great script, wonderful performance, great directing. Love it !!! My definition of a good movie : "You need to pee but you need to know what happens next so you hold it in. You forget to breathe. The movie wakes you the heck up instead of putting you to a peaceful sleep " This film will give you all of that. There are only 3 movies to this date that did all those things to me : Running Scared with Paul Walker, Cellular (2004) with Chris Evans and No Escape 2015.
