I haven't watched this movie since the 80s but thanks to Brooklyn 99 and detective Jake Peralta, who says Die Hard is the best movie, my wife and I figured we'd watch it again. It has aged very well and we were both extremely entertained. Comedy, drama, action flick....classic. Strong character development pulls you in and makes you feel engaged.
The story centers around a couple on the outs and a heist. He is a New York cop and his wife has taken a corporate job in LA. Without giving too many of the details or spoilers, just know it's worth the watch. I had honestly forgot how good this movie was. As far as is it a Christmas movie, as I've heard debated...my vote is no, but my wife thought it was. Ha! Or should I say Ho!

After seeing other reviews, I don't understand some of the negative reviews. My wife, adult daughter, and I watched this movie and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent acting with a great cast. Steve Carrell and Juliette Binoche were amazing. The family dynamic was palpable. Was it predictable?...slightly, but nonetheless very enjoyable and one of my favorite rom-comish movies. Most of these type of movies that I've watched with my wife have seemed semi-cheesy and highly predictable. I found this one very entertaining and heartfelt. Emily Blunt and Dane Cook as well as the rest of the cast really added to the movie.
First off I thought visually this movie was amazing. The transitions from black-and-white to color as her eyes open to the world, the storyline, the acting, the dark humor, everything kept me entertained for the most part. And here comes the issue I had with the movie...The sex scenes were, IMO, a bit excessive. I got the point after the first 10 sex scenes. This movie will no doubt have lovers and haters of it, due in no small part to the sheer quantity of these scenes. I'm not one to say what's right or wrong, but I can say for myself, this movie was entertaining but at the same time a little excessive. Will I ever watch this movie again? Highly doubtful.
