Gritty urban crime drama with a dark synth soundtrack and a zesty twist. Crime movies never get a fair review. Not a family movie but definitely a good Saturday night thriller. It rolls off with a slow start but then kicks in nicely. Hemsworth and Cohen are a natural pair as one's straight-faced, quieter demeanor compliments the others more desperate and reckless disposition. There is some real violence that the director does a good job of not overdoing, with camera turn-aways and angle changes. The double-climax ending is a twister that you won't soon forget! Don't let the 5/10 average rating steer you astray from this edge-of-your-seat steering wheel-gripping crime masterpiece!
Perhapd others may disagree, out of a fondness for the show's host, Rosanna Pansino. Aside from her over-the-top outfits, and particularly inauthentic disposition, she seems to unwilling (or unable?) to provide any worthwhile critique to her contestants. The show bares a striking resemblance to Netflix's "Sugar Rush" and "Nailed It," but seems to have taken from each only the format, and left behind the entertainment. The first episode is enough for any sane individual to not watch the second.
The movie has something missing from the very beginning that never arrives... humor. Chase and Dreyfus aren't funny in this and the movie has no direction. The old guy jokes are almost as tired as the cliche theme. There's no chemistry with the actors so you never buy a single scene. You just feel bored. I think it might have been directed by my autistic cousin. Slower than hell.
