The "Nibelungen" by Dieter Wedel is not really a film, it's the recording of the play by Moritz Rinke presented in Worms, where the "Nibelungen" are originally set, at it's "Nibelungen-festival".
The story is, I guess, mostly clear. Unlike the film-productions, Rinke's version tells all the story in three hours very concentrated, but understandable (at least the latests TV-Produktion needed two parts à 2 hours to tell the first half of the saga). There's a great cast every year to play the parts of the heroes. Maria Schrader, 2005 the fourth time as Krimhild, is excellent, Mario Adorf did a great job as Hagen of Tronje (in the first year of what the TV-show was). Best scene: Krimhild and Brunhild's quarrel in front of the cathedral.
