Debbie Does Dallas

  • It was like watching a porno!!!!! Well, duh.......

I find it remarkable some of the comments that are made in these "reviews"??? One gentleman thought it was like watching a porno? I wonder what he thought it was gonna be.....perhaps a love story, maybe a sports competition. Someone has to have been deep, very deep in the South American jungle to not know the premise of "Debbie Does Dallas". And others comment about how unattractive most of the actors/actresses are. And I imagine all of them are out of the molds of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. I might guess that most of them would give their right arm to spend one night with any of the actresses in the film. One has to remember this movie did not come out of the 2000's. This movie is 30 years old. Much of the technology of today's filmmakers was not available then. As one post commented correctly, this film gave some of the Oscar nominated films of the year a run for their money. And it was not even shown in the mainline theaters for the most part. It was one of the many examples of the destructive forces appearing in a film such as this can have on a person. Many actors/actresses have attempted to start by appearing in a non-participatory sexual role of an X rated film, and some cases a very limited participation such as this one. Bambi experienced a downfall that apparently led to her very untimely death. Kristen DeBell, who was in "Alice in Wonderland", found that even though she was attempting to get into the mainstream films her involvement proved to be her death knoll in the industry. However, Julianne Moore who appeared in Boogie Nights didn't suffer the same results. So when we talk about these films we need to realize we are talking about a very volatile, unpredictable group of films and participants involved in their making.

The only negative I can think of regarding this film is that it was filmed two years after Holmes was diagnosed HIV-Positive. And he withheld that information from the industry. How egotistical of him to expose these gals and not have made them aware. And only a few years lated that he succumbed to AIDS. The film itself takes on the comedic charm of Ron Jeremy. It was one of the earlier films of Ali Moore who was also on the edge as far as age, much like her following costar Traci Lords in Wild Things. I have thought Ali brought more appeal to the screen than Traci ever did. But each of us are entitled to our own opinions which accounts for the variety we have available. Christy Canyon has always been over the top for me. Always been outstanding body, but little more. Again I would select Ali over Christy every time.

  • C'mon, does no one get the connection?

I viewed this movie basically because of A J Cook, who is now in the new TV Series "Criminal Minds". In the beginning I was like many(most) of the commenters on here. I played the ending twice to determine the killer. Then, the switch went on. This IS a movie with connections to Jack the Ripper. And there has never been definitive proof of who he was.

Aha, there is no definitive proof of who the killer is in this movie.

So, let's move on. Perhaps this is the answer to the oft asked question about the ending, perhaps not. But the logic makes considerable sense. As far as I know, none of the directors dialogs has ever addressed this issue.

I vaguely recall a movie back in the 60's that had an ending that was left entirely to the viewer's interpretation. It began as a black and white movie, and then as a female is killed and she begins to bleed the blood turns to red and the movie becomes a color movie. One of the best transitions I can recall. I cannot recall the name of that movie. However, at the conclusion you were left to decide the ending.
