I loved this movie, and I give it an 8.

I would have given it a 9 if it wasn't for the fact that it felt like Seth's character was a time-traveller who for some reason needs to be in 1882 (or somehow got stuck there). And when the movie starts he's been in 1882 for a few weeks, and that's the reason why he's commenting on how life in the old west sucks, all the time (don't let this discourage you as the movie has a lot more to offer). Most other characters seem to be more "authentically" portrayed.

Don't understand why they didn't polish the script more. Seth's "social commentary" jokes felt out of place quite often, again, because it seemed like he had traveled back in time and tries to point out to everyone how awful their epoch is to live in.

This was a huge annoyance for me. But the rest of the movie was amazing. Good "stoner movie" in terms of attitude and visual content.

Ribisi's character was hilarious, and Silverman was great too.

One particular celebrity cameo was THE EFFING BOMB and I give the film makers a huge cyber hug for it.

Pretty solid acting all around, with Seth obviously being the weak link, altho he was in no way bad - but there were a few cringey scenes/lines were they could have tweaked the script and done a few more takes to allow his delivery to improve.

I was looking forward to watch a Swedish movie, which I don't do very often. The reason is that Swedish film is known to be.. it's hard to explain, but cringe-worthy is definitely one way to put it. Swedes are pretty awkward in real life, but on film we're even more awkward. A good example of this is to compare the original first Millennium film with the Fincher remake.

I had heard that this movie was good, but it wasn't. FYI i have not read the books.

The villain was disappointing in execution and anything but threatening. I didn't believe for a second that the world was in grave danger.

The acting and dialog was cringe-inducing quite often, in typical Swedish fashion. The movie felt rushed and the lore of this universe was barely explained.

I give it a bonus star for portraying teen life and goth fashion pretty accurately (movies from all countries usually fail at this).

Imagine if David Cronenberg and Peter Jackson were the bestest of buddies. Imagine if they were actually Japanese and had grown up in Tokyo. Imagine if their favourite films were Tetsuo and Lady Snowblood.

Now, imagine them making a film together.

That film, is Tokyo Gore Police.

This movie has everything. Just when you start thinking you've seen it all, something even more crazier pops up in the next scene. The level of bizarreness continuously goes up without ever stepping back down, and the amount of blood and gore is "satisfactory", to say the least. I found myself laughing heartily (and sadistically!) throughout the entire movie, and I fell in love with it. For reference, it's three times as good as Meatball Machine, and twice as good as The Machine Girl (the makers' previous films).

One thing I didn't like is that the Special FX are sometimes a little too "unrealistic". However, the FX guy has stated that he "likes his props to look like props" and that he is trying to achieve the feel of an 80's horror film.
