I remember movie where death of a dog made me care more and revenge for it looked better.
If Drive and 2nd season of True Detective have had a baby somewhere in the Kazakh steppe, that would've probably been this movie
.
Prepare yourself for an action-adventure, where 4 best spies in US and one Indian businessman team up in the face of their worst fears: business losses and unemployment. If you have an opportunity - watch this while you're high, you will be surprised how much small details they fit in into both plot and dialog, like
(spoilers on)
- the movie starts and ends with time bomb fuze burning
- Tom Cruise character has an actual arc: first, IMF agent gets distracted by beeping thingy and dies; later Tom Cruise gets distracted by small beeping thingy and almost dies; later again, he gets almost distracted by small beeping thingy but this time he is prepared for small things that beep sometimes, so he doesn't die.
- By the way, he has very little accent when he speaks Russian. That makes Simon Pegg's attempts to fix the situation with the documents so much funnier (he's not even trying)
- Simon Pegg talks directly into the camera about cool masks everybody is waiting for (5 years before Deadpool!)
- The whole part with repeating stunt from the first movie, but this time 1) without straps; 2) with Jeremy Renner - it's comedy gold
- I was mildly annoyed by Russian choir singing gibberish, but when the movie gets to India it has ~10 min of the most oriental music I ever heard. That's when I got that this is by design.
