I don't get all the positive reviews. I thought this series would be right up my ally. I love witches, vampires and demons and the like. But for some reason I found this show mostly boring. I binge watched all three seasons but it hardly kept my attention and the whole time I just didn't feel the connection between the two main characters, which is a huge part of the show. Thier love story was so bland. They had no chemistry, and their relationship felt forced. Diana, the witch, her character was not interesting to me at all. I didn't know why everyone loved her. She had no personality. I don't know if it was the actress' fault or the writing. I feel the whole series could have been done so much better.
So, overall this show was interesting. It kept my attention and Jenna Coleman, as always, was excellent. What I found annoying is that this was supposed to take place in New York, USA but it was obviously a British show. I mean, if you are going to pretend that you are in the United States, at least get the language right. They kept saying "holiday" as in "we were on holiday" . Americans don't call "vacations " "holidays ". Now if the British couple said that, that makes sense, but the "Americans " were saying it. I thought that was funny. I also don't know how many times I talked to the screen about leaving the creep of a husband. Besides the annoying little things like that, it's not a bad binge on a boring day.
I really liked the series, it took a couple of episodes to get into it, but once I was, I was hooked trying to figure out all the mysteries. However, season 1 ends without resolution and lots of loose ends and there is no season 2. That's annoying. If you don't like watching things that end with no resolution because the powers that be decided not to finish the project, then don't watch it. I wish I knew that before going in. Lily Rabe, Hamish Linklater and Amy Brennan do an excellent job portraying their dark, complex characters. Great acting all the way around. The ending makes you believe that there is going to be a season 2, but nope, the series dropped. Again, annoying!
