I don't understand the character assassination of daemon. Every inside the episode hurts me as I learn how the writing team think. That being said- this was an episode that felt like it was tying up loose ends and trying to set up new ones. Necessary- but could've been done better. I did not enjoy rhaneras lackluster reaction to the previous episodes events. I also did not enjoy her conversations with the small counsel, her son, ser Alfred, or mysaria. Episode included almost too much chattery dialogue. I did enjoy the fall out at kings landing and alicents scenes. I'm sick of harenhal- daemons character is going to the dogs and the plot just keeps circling. I've enjoyed the minor changes they're made thus far- by Daemons character as this rudderless, power hungry, daft, love lacking character is not doing it for me. I think Matt smiths acting pushes against that as well. As do the cut scenes from season 1.
I can't believe I'm saying this but it's like overdosing on funny. It's too funny- my stomach hurts. This travel comedy show really nails that short form, fast comedy that works so well for Conan- while meeting the storytelling arch and consistency needs of a 40 min episode. They feel long because there's so much going on. But im drawn in and held there. Conan is a sight to behold and I think he perfectly takes on edgy comedy while not crossing the line and being icky. I can only imagine how much content didn't make it into the show. I love how they used the friends from the fan episodes of the podcast. It's a clever premise and really gives weight to Conan's interactions with his fans. This makes me wanna travel- and die to save me from the laughter.
