The inspiration for this film is obvious. One of the characters says in the middle of the film. "Oh my god! I´m in a Woody Allen film ".
Tiago Durão (director) and Sofia Mirupi (producer and who plays the character of Alice Maia) both Portuguese, effectively considered it impossible to make such a film in Portugal and it was almost entirely shot in New York, with actors from all over the world and spoken 95% in English
The film is superb, even for those who are prejudiced against a film made by a Portuguese. I think Woody Allen would be envious of the quality of this film. Here we follow the cross stories of 10 characters (plus Alice) in New York City in a frantic and unstoppable rhythm of succession of scenes, intelligently captured by the cameras and accompanied by a soundtrack that manages to change abruptly to follow the twists in the story.
The best film I saw this year and I hope that for Tiago Durão it will be the beginning of a brilliant career as a director.
