This was a terrible, generic, boring Chinese state propaganda movie under a thin veil of an action flick. I thought, Jackie Chan and John Cena, this has to be great right? Boy was I wrong. First off this was not the Jackie Chan we all love. This was a role for a generic, older actor playing an action role, it could have been anyone. None of his trademark comedy or over the top stunts, just pretty generic stuff. And John Cena has fully sold out to the Chinese state media machine, like completely. They tried to give his character some funny lines but it was stupid and fell totally flat. It was obvious that the writers have never written a funny line in their lives. Even though much of this movie was in english, I'm sure this wasn't made for an American audience. Maybe the bad dialog, propaganda, stupid plot and cartoon action scenes play better in China. Do not waste your time, both of these guys have been in much better films and shows.
Engineers and physicists all over the world are collectively slapping their heads. I don't think there was a single technical advisor on this film or they were just completely ignored. This is about as scientifically accurate as the 50's Mars invasion movies. You have to have at least some science in your sci-fi movie. The only thing that got me through this was wanting to see how the story resolved even though I knew I was going to be disappointed. Just no.
