I had trepadation going into this series simply becuase I so enjoyed the bosch series and its follow up that I just assumed this would pale in comparison. This is on level of Bosch. High level of acting, not only by maggie. That is what is missing in many procedural type shows. They either take from headlines or great work of fiction and just lean on the story. But acting chops were evident as was the writing; kudos to the writers...also many shows it becomes painfully obvious where things are going. Like Bosch this show kept it fresh. I certainly hope there will be a season 2. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I just watched the first episode of dept. Q. Thus far I am totally drawn in. I'm a matthew goode fan, and thus far very interesting characters set up; exceeded my expecations. Excellent writing and acting. Suggestion: the first epi, don't judge it until the vry end. Highly recommended.
Most shows, especially police procedurals, have a tough time balancing more than one character, but the few thus far seem as if they are well balanced in the script development. I am definitely impressed by the overall production values, thus far. Side note: interesting interplay between scots and brits, which I always appreciate.

Equally great episode to previous one; was that jay mohr, now husband in real life to jeannie buss playing cap's agent tom collins? Not listed in credits, but I think it is him. They are really painting the picture of what was going on behind the scenes with the main players. Jason clarke is superb as west, as is cap portrayal by solomon hughes. Too many great performances to mention them all. This really gives one an idea of what was happening back in the 80s in l.a. I really hope there is a season three as next episode is last of the season. Please let season three happen. Please. John C deserves an award.
