☆ 7 -> Mediocre, brings little new to the table but is well executed and has little flaws.
☆ 6 -> Below standard, lots of cliches and not surprising, but still a fun time.
☆ 5 -> Bad, does some things right and some things very poorly. zero rewatchability.
☆ 4 -> Very Bad, lots of plot holes, and lacks character development.
☆ 3 -> Below any standards. many technical flaws and bad writing.
☆ 2 -> Trash, waste of time.
☆ 1 -> Shouldn't even exist.

When Pim was just 12 years old he made his first-ever feature-length film with some classmates called "The Journey of the Pilgrim" (2010). This film was however never released to the public and remains only available to family and friends. The film was, however, a great success. So the group of friends decided to continue their efforts by making a two-season drama/action series called "The Secret Box" (2011-2012). This series was also only released to friends and family. During production on season 2 of "The Secret Box", the close group of friends had a falling out and Pim decided to stop working together.

Pim took a break from filmmaking and decided to put his time and effort into the improvement of his craft. He started an audiovisual study in 2014. During his time at this school, he specialized himself in film, making a couple of short films. Camera Max (2016) and A Life Ruined (2016).

In 2016 he founded his own company called "Kraster Media" and worked as a freelance editor and filmmaker. Continuing his efforts as a filmmaker he graduated from film school in 2018 with his film Toen was het stil (2018) which was met with very positive responses. During this time he was also assistant director for Gouden beloftes (2018). And he edited and executive produced the film Op zoek naar geluk (2018).

From then on he has worked with several companies in The Netherlands. Editing and producing multiple television programs, music videos, and commercials.

  • They actually make smart decisions.

    When you're in the woods, do you ever feel like you're being watched? Well, this time it's true-something straight out of Swedish folklore is watching you.

    I was tense the entire time. I literally had to pause just to pee. The atmosphere is thick, the cinematography sharp, and the tension between the characters feels real. Best of all? They actually make smart decisions. This isn't one of those horror flicks where you're yelling at the screen, but it is one of those where you feel like the monster is always in the frame, even if you don't see it.

    Solid film that's going to be recommended, by me, to lots of people.

  • Spaeny absolutely nails it!

    Fits right into the Alien universe, completing the arc between Prometheus and the original films without ever feeling like a copy. It looks and feels like classic Alien-tense, dark, and claustrophobic - but it still brings something new.

    The pacing is sharp. It never drags, never feels bloated. And the big questions are still there: What does Weyland really want with these creatures? And are the synths actually on our side... or not?

    Cailee Spaeny absolutely nails it in the lead role. She carries the film with confidence and depth, and she deserves way more praise for it. That girl's got a future so bright, she might as well wear shades.

  • Coppola appears to be telling too many stories at once.

    Power, corruption, and the illusion of progress-history repeats itself, whether in Ancient Rome or a modern metropolis. What seems like the story of an ambitious architect quickly reveals itself as something much larger: a tale of political intrigue, manipulation, and the struggle between the elite and the people they claim to serve.

    The film thrives on its unique style, solid performances, and well-paced narrative, but it's also overwhelming. Coppola appears to be telling too many stories at once, likely because this has been his passion project since 1977. After decades of dreaming, it seems impossible to trim anything away. In this case, less would have been more.

    Yet, despite its excess, the film remains undeniably entertaining. There are movies with much higher ratings that engage far less. It's a weird fever dream, impossible to classify as simply good or bad-but compelling all the same.
