It refreshing spin to the superhero genre, but not that refreshing i guess... It was meidocre at best. The performances of the father and the guy from Breaking Bad i found really good, the other actors were ok (there is a lot of crying without tears type of acting).
The cinematography was fine and nothing special. Some sequences were handheld and were edited and directed in a way film student would. There were barely any interesting shots.
The effects at times weren't the best, but all around it was believable.
The film wasn't scary too. Just panning or cut shot in which something apears in front of the charecter and when she/he looks away and looks back there's nothing there... there weren't that many jumpscares which is a plus i guess.
At times it was violent and i think the gore factor added to the movie and i didn't expect that at all.
There were a lot of cheesy and stupid momments in which the characters explain things to the audience, because the writers think we're stupid, but you can see some things a mile away, although i would have to say it wasn't that predictable as i thought it would be.
We're introduced to this black fat kid who bullies the main charecter and you expect they would do something with him, but they forgot he existed in the second half so his inclusion in the movie was pointless.
It was dissapointing movie, but i'll not try to stop you from watching, you may like it. I just found it boring at times and not that interesting. For a concept like that you would expect a little bit more but i look at the movie and see missed opportunity.
Very interesting true crime docu-series. It's a real eye-opener and has a clear message that is usually unheard. From a documentary stand point, it did its job well enough to be stuck in my mind for a long time. It goes in depths explaining the crimes, the sloppy police work and the psychological impact of the authority figure.
It is absolutely outrageous in what lengths would the police go to blame innocent people only so they can be the hero in the eyes of the media and the community and the tax payers could pat them on the back for the good work. But let's not forget... Innocent peoples lifes are wasted in prison because authorities are arrogant and lazy enough to blame them for something that someone else who walks freely did. What if it was you?

I really like The Conjuring Universe. The first Conjuring i think it works on some levels, but at the end it's just another film about a family moving in a creepy old possesed house. The second one i think is the best of all. It had a great story, creative scares and all around great atmosphere and good characters. The first Anabelle is trash, the second one i would say is a little above average. It had something to offer, but it wasn't horror triumph.
And now we come to the spin-off to the great The Conjuring 2 with the creepy nun Valak. I wasn't very excited about that movie, although a saw it based on what James Wan did as a producer with his other movies, the Nun as a character as i found her very effective in The Conjuring 2 and all around just because i am a horror fan.
I am very dissapointed to say that this movie was painfully average and boring. It's very repetitive. A shadow! Lets follow it through the dark hallways with a candle. Boo, jumpscare. That's the whole film. At one point it just became a cliched exorcism jesus-christ-yelling extravaganza.
It had great atmosphere, good acting, some great shots and visual effects, but that's all. It felt really formulated by the book as it has nothing much to offer to the genre.
