The excellence of humanity and duty, through the world of a public hospital, in this masterpiece bittersweet Greek film. Based on an orthopedic doctor's book.
One of the rare cases, that a contemporary movie pays respects to the founding fathers of experimentation; dada, surrealism etc, through the nihilistic filter that was introduced musically by NIN and Marilyn Manson's 'Antichrist Superstar' and the same time it managers to be innovative, fresh, original and relevant.
For me as a creator, it's a brand new fountain of inspiration, next to the great works of Bunuel, Jodorowsky, Fassbinder, Lynch,Tarkovsky.

If someone conceives cinema as another race track, Lanthimos with his 'The Favorite', proved himself a better director than Haneke, because of his versatility, courage and homages to the great ones: Stanley Kubrick (Barry Lindon), Pier Paolo Pasolini (Salo), Rainer Werner Fassbinder (The bitter tears of Petra von Kant), Lars von Trier (Dogma).
(Don't rush it. Just wait for it and let it grow in you.The movie ticks for a few hours/days, until it explodes from within the viewer).
