I found this movie when I was diving down the Tubi rabbit hole. This movie is much better than expected.
There's a simple yet acceptable premise for a B-level popcorn movie. A group of young adults get stuck on an isolated road because of a mysterious psycho sniper. The movie's concept and execution are reminscient of movies like Phone Booth, ATM, and Flight Risk .
I found the main cast of characters to be likable. They don't bicker and fight amongst themselves to the point of irritance, and refreshingly, they think logically and come up with some solid ideas about how to get themselves out of their situation: it was really fun to see them brainstorm and try different stratagems. The pacing is solid; the atmosphere is suspenseful.
I can't give a higher score because of some major problems, though. The movie gets burnt hard by some awful acting: everyone's facial expressions and dialogue delivery appear so fake .. the movie probably needed a higher budget. When people get shot, the blood and gore look quite unrealistic. The ending was unnecessary

I love the first Die Hard, and I enjoyed Parts 2 and 3. I had some high hopes for this one. I'm a little disappointed. I think this one is worse than the 2 preceding sequels.
This movie just feels generic: it doesn't feel like Die Hard; it feels more like Mission Impossible or something ... There are too many high-budget explosions. It was as if the filmmakers felt they could make a good movie just by throwing the craziest possible stunts that they could, like flying cars crashing all over the place or things getting blown up every few scenes (the words "explosion spam" seem so apt for this movie).
The comedy in this movie doesn't land. I didn't like Justin Long's character. He and Willis don't have the chemistry that Willis had with Reginald VelJohnson (Part 1), Dennis Franz (Part 2), or Samuel L Jackson (Part 3) ... the plot with the hackers isn't too easy to follow
The big upside is that Bruce Willis, though visibly older compared to the prior Die Hard entries, is still credible, likeable, and cool as John McClane. Put another actor in his place, and I would've went even lower than a 4.5

I found this movie when I was diving down the Tubi rabbit-hole. I'm not a big Mischa Barton fan, but I found the premise to be intriguing. I like survivalist movies, and Death Valley is my favorite national park
The movie isn't actually a survivalist thriller, as I had expected. It's a slow-paced drama, where some of the details just aren't too clear. I'm not sure, for example, why Mischa Barton's character hates her brother's girlfriend ... the movie doesn't have anyone for the viewer to get behind. Mischa Barton's character is too icy. Other characters, like Troy, are extremely annoying. There's too much bickering, fighting, and yelling amongst the main cast of characters. The way that they get stranded makes them look dumb, and after getting stranded, they make several dumb decisions that worsen their situation. Though Death Valley is so pretty, there aren't any scenic shots . The movie ends on a whimper ..
