Sometimes you're kind of reluctant to watch a movie because you don't really expect anything of it, but then you end up being so pleasantly surprised! I had that experience with "In the Soup". This film truly is a little gem as mentioned before. This strange, offbeat movie grew on me with every scene I watched. Steve Buscemi is brilliantly funny as script-writer and 'wannabe' director Adolpho. Seymour Cassel is great as well but I definitely shouldn't forget to mention Jennifer Beals.. my god, how this woman made me laugh! She was pitch perfect for her role as Buscemi's cranky Latin-American neighbor Angelica, his secret love interest who he wants to star in his movie. I can highly recommend this movie, if you're a Buscemi fan, it's a "must-see" !
In The Netherlands we started off with season 1 of The L-word a few weeks ago. At first I was a bit reluctant to watch it because I didn't consider myself a target group, not being gay etc, but I sat down for it and I ab-so-lute-ly love this show now! I've only seen a couple of episodes but I can say I'm hooked to the L-word! Me and my friends have great-fun-Monday-evenings, watching this show. It kinda fills the hole that was left behind by SATC & Friends... maybe I like this show even more. It's somehow more subtle and real, complex and intelligent. I adore almost every character, but Bette (Jennifer Beals) is my favorite. What a beautiful, powerful and talented actress JB proves to be, she does a great job portraying Bette Porter. It is a shame we (I?) haven't seen more of JB over the last few years. As for my earlier comment, about liking ALMOST every character, I'd have to say I'm so annoyed by that Jenny character... wouldn't you just like to slap her??!!
