If you like shows that drag on and on, never reaching a conclusion because their sole purpose is to sell the next season, then this is for you. Gone are the Marvel Comics days of story arcs, replaced with the Disney+ formula of never-ending and undeserved subscriptions. The creators are definitely not at the helm. The accountants and executives are. A bunch of distracting and unrelated side stories, and dark scenes to cover up the poor fighting scenes did not impress me.

This Marvel fanboy who loves Daredevil, Kingpin, and Punisher (the original versions) is extremely underwhelmed and disappointed. I ordered a wagyu burger and got a Big Mac instead. I give it a grade of D+.

So I am not sure when it happened but at some point, men became children. Is there such a thing as toxic masculinity? I think there are and always will be bullies. Becoming public victims and weaklings does not do anything to help our society.

This show is a public display of male weakness. I have had many discussions with my wife on whether I am manly enough or sensitive enough. These discussions happen IN PRIVATE. Anyone who seriously wants to tackle deep rooted issues does not get doctors and a stage and a bunch of cameras to make a spectacle of it all.

This show, and the thinking behind this show, is the reason why our country is where it is now. Men used to fight over who will be the one to jump on the grenade and save the platoon. Now, men cannot even agree on who will pay the check at a restaurant.

By killing so called "toxic masculinity", we have killed chivalry and bravery, and strong silent types. We should celebrate and respect good men. Instead, we give the mic to these degenerates and weaklings who make excuses for their shortcomings and need a public forum for it. Where will we go next?

I know what you are thinking. This guy is uneducated, or he is materialistic, or he is phony, or he is a troll, or he is objectifying women, or he is immature, or he is etc., etc., etc....

The truth is that this show exists because people are watching it. You can come here with your insecurities about your body, or your intellectual superiority complex, or your elitist opinion that every TV show and movie should be a literary masterpiece.

Art should be accepted in all its forms and should have diversity. Those of you who call for the show to be banned or canceled should be ashamed of yourselves. Art should not be censored in any way. In culinary arts, you can eat a filet mignon and you can stuff your face with a good old fashioned hamburger. In fashion, you can wear an elegant tuxedo or you can rock a nice thrashed pair of blue jeans.

I do not see where all the hate comes from. I can watch the Godfather one day and relax to enjoy Love Island the next day. I am a husband and a dad. I work very hard and there are days that I am physically and emotionally exhausted. There is nothing wrong with my wife and I sitting down with some iced coffees and our smart phones to semi-watch a brainless show that blatantly celebrates the beautiful bodies and stupid naiveté of our youthful years... to blow off some steam remembering when we did not have the responsibilities of being middle aged.

I love this show in all its simplicity, just as I love the artistic masterpieces on the other end of the spectrum. It is better to review the show and explain its tone and purpose than to badmouth it. Badmouthing the stupidity of the people on Love Island (or those who watch it) is the same as denying you were every young and stupid. Youth is youth, plain and simple.
