I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. The writing was very clever. Sometimes there were laugh-out-loud moments I didn't expect. Other times, there were plot developments where I said to myself, "I didn't see that coming!"
This reminds me a bit of the first two Alien movies--the first one was primarily a horror movie, the second one was more action-oriented. This second M3GAN movie has a lot more to it than just a scary doll running amok.
Can a doll have a character arc? In the case of M3GAN, yes. After the first movie, I thought if I ever had the opportunity to get a M3GAN doll, I would say, No thanks." After this second movie, my answer would be, "Uh, maybe." That's a big improvement! This is a very entertaining movie.
