VxViper's rating
It had a couple of good jump scares, but what made this film not do so well was the lack of it feeling real, like other horror mockumentaries. The acting is way over the top, and using a green filter to simulate night vision didn't help this movie; it made the film look quite cheap. The ending was unconvincing and gave me a headache from how hard I rolled my eyes.
As Jurassic World is a silly parody of Jurassic Park, The Meg 2 is one of The Meg. While the first film had a bit more of a serious tone, this one starts off alright, but as the film goes on it becomes more and more silly. The "Villains" in the movie are over the top and straight out of a Saturday morning cartoon, and Statham's character is more of a secret agent/action man in this than in the previous film. It's fun to watch, but if you want it to be more like the first, you're out of luck.
