As an avid fan of "24", and not having seen Kiefer Sutherland in any other film role since "The Lost Boys" I was curious to see him act in a horror film.
Ben Carson has had a tragic experience in the line of duty and is now trying to get is life back on track. He finds a simple job as a night watchman at a burned out shopping mall. Ben however soon finds out this job is not as simple as it would seem, as strange things start to happen when he's alone with mirrors. Initially he thinks he's going crazy, but he soon finds a dark secret involving the building and starts investigating the strange occurrences.
Kiefer's performance very closely resembles his role of Jack Bauer in "24". Every time he shouts at someone, I see Jack Bauer in one of his desperate hurries. This sometimes stands out during scenes with his wife, but other that that, I welcome the sight of Jack anywhere.
Alexandre Aja made a very thrilling and visually impressive film. While Kiefer lacks somewhat in the romantic department, his performance is very fitting for a man in Ben's situation. If you like a gripping thriller with some blood here and there, this film won't disappoint.

I saw this film yesterday, and was not impressed. The acting was pretty bad, the gore effects were not great, the story was lacking and the music was terrible, especially during the action sequences.
But, I kinda enjoyed myself watching it. There were a few jokes, and most of them were not funny. Most of the fun was because of the lacking script. At some points it was just so stupid, it was funny. I also found the killer clown's remarks entertaining, even though none of them really had much to do with the story. And the concept of a killer clown, though a bit cliché, is still pretty funny.
This film is pretty bad, but it's entertaining if you can ignore the flaws, just sit back and laugh at the unfortunate teens.
