I'd forgotten how many talented people were in this sequel to "Barbershop": my favorite Shakespearean actor Harry Lennix plays the bad guy, and it gave us the sublime spin-off "Beauty Shop". Gonna watch it today to chase some rainy-day blues away.
Cedric deserved more awards for this. He's a great comedian and a moving actor.

This episode made me laugh more than anything I've seen lately. Enver Gjokaj has a fantastic singing voice; I've never seen him better, doing it all: comedy, sci-fi, romance. I certainly hope he sticks around. Alan Tudyk also directed this episode and was incredibly funny. And Corey Reynolds is so damn entertaining, he deserves his own show. Terry O'Quinn always brightens up anything he appears in. Elizabeth Bowen is also someone who deserves her own show. I'm glad that the SyFy network has continued to broadcast "Resident Alien" every season and not force me to sign up for some streaming service.
I've enjoyed this movie since it first came out, and as income inequality has become so much more extreme (in the U. S., anyway) it just gets better with time. I'm glad it's running more often on cable since Cillian Murphy won his Oscar for Oppenheimer; my other favorite actor here, in a way-too-brief appearance, is Matt Bomer as the handsome, wise, yet world-weary Henry Hamilton. Timberlake made this and a pretty good comedy around the same time with another great supporting cast. It's probably my favorite Amanda Seyfried film as well.
Don't let any haters mislead you; there are some important themes here and I can almost guarantee this will be enjoyable for sci-fi/dystopian future movie lovers.
