Extremely bland and boring. It almost feels like the script was rushed or unfinished or something. Most of the characters in the movie seem like they were just thrown in last minute.
Malkovich was alright, which was the highlight of the movie.
Ayo Edebiri gave an extremely bad acting performance. I haven't seen her in anything else, so I didn't know what to expect, but wow that was atrocious. I'll try to watch some other stuff with here because I'm not curious if this was a really bad one off, or if she's just a very untalented actor.
Anyway, if I could go back in time I'd skip this one and watch something else.

They took a really wonderful movie (the 1993 original), and remade it as another lazy, run of the mill romantic comedy that's trying desperately to be modern and relevant.
Bowen Yang's acting performance was distractingly bad. However, Joan Chen and Lily Gladstone's acting performances were good and solid. But they couldn't save the film.
Overall, I think this one is worth skipping and will probably be forgotten about in 5 years.
I'm glad that this movie will at least bring more attention to the original, and maybe expose people to Ang Lee's earlier work which I personally think is his best.

It's fun, easy and actually a little bit interesting. If you're bored, check it out.
Also, the two main girls - their voices aren't annoying at all, and they obviously aren't putting it on in a fake way or anything. Maybe I'm nuts, but I thought they were fun. I wouldn't really consider their speech as good examples of 'vocal fry' or 'uptalking' anyway (as some people are saying). Besides, there are people that actually genuinely speak like that, it doesn't mean they are stupid, fake, etc. Anyway, if you are able to not totally judge someone based on the sound of their natural speaking voice and like interior design stuff, it's worth checking out.
