Luc Besson knows how to turn a simple 1 2 3 action step, into a wonderful song & dance. His best work so far will always be LEON:THE PROFESSIONAL. Other great works under his wing is THE FIFTH ELEMENT, KISS OF THE DARGON, and THE TRANSPORTER. Now this is without question Luc's best since LEON, maybe even better.
Danny(Jet Li) has been raised as a dog by a ruthless gangster Bart(Bob Hopkins). Making him become his muscle, until one day at a piano shop, Danny sees a piano and new friend named Sam(Morgan Freeman). For some reason Danny has a sense of humanity and wants that back badly. So like dog running away from an abused owner, he goes back to the piano shop only to be found by Sam. Now he lives with Sam and his stepdaughter Victora (Kerry Condon), together they help rekindle what Danny has been missing all along.... LOVE. Just as everything couldn't seem better , an old friend comes to visit.
What makes this movie so great and powerful is not the action scenes, even though there are the most powerful and realistic I have ever seen, is the drama side of the story. And no it dosen't try too hard to be sad at scenes, because it is and it has all the right actors to make it effective. If they would have released it during Oscar season this year, the three leads especially Li would of had nominations. And the human side of the story is a gift of heartwarming love, while the action side of the story is so brutal, it's disturbingly real. When Li recovers his humanity, it is not only funny but sad; in a good way. With all the chaos going on at certain scenes, it's hard to believe that can from the same scene. For example; the scene where Bob Hopkins shines in a darkly moving scene about Danny coming home and then violence burst out of nowhere. It seems standard, but as I said the drama of this movie is real and so as the violence. Which is why I said it's a unique mix of drama storytelling mix with brutal violence.

Charlie Kaufman has written brilliant and fantastic movies; I come on BEING JOHN MALCOVICH, APADTATION, CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND, and even the flawed yet great HUMAN NATURE. Now this has to be his best film he ever wrote or will write again. Director Micheal Gondry, who tackled on HUMAN NATURE, redeems himself with this work of art. Who would ever think being so spotless will be so amazing.
Joel(Jim Carry) has just been through a horrible break-up with the love of his life Clementine(Kate Winslet). He is even more upset to find out that she had her memory erased of him. So out of anger he decides to do it too. Under the process, he finds out by the inventor, Dr. Howard Mierzwiak(Tom Wilkinson), that he will still be awake and active; just in his brain. Also under the procedure, he finds out that even though him and Clementine are no longer together, he still loves her. So he tries to hide her in memories she shouldn't be in.
This movie centers on how strong love is no matter how many fights or break-ups we endure. It weird, but seems like something that'll really happen. Jim Carrey, my idol as a toddler, has an unique way of being funny and serious in a calm way; a way we are not use to seeing him in and is brilliant for showing us he's emotions to this role. Kate, on the other hand seems to have a role we would see Jim in, but makes it her on and totally steals the show on the comedy side. Elijah Wood is a perfect example of being a evil weasel, showing a great potential in being a great villain, cough...SIN CITY...cough. I always wanted to see Kirsten Dunst high now I do and loved her for it. Mark Ruffalo has fun with his part and dragged me along with him. Tom Wilkinson has showed me that being so serious can be so funny at times. All in all everybody did great, I mean everyone. So watch this Wonderful, Wonderful film and feel happy with the one you love, through the good times and worst times. If loved this flick, then you most definitely will love this two, PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE and I HEART HUCKABEES.

I usually tell the plot of the film, but it's been two years now. So all I have to say is DAAAAMMMMMMNNNN!!! This has the best fight scene of all time; it's bloody, gory and kick a$$. Thank God the MPAA let director Ronny Yu have he's way and shine with this beautiful violence of mayhem. If seen this then see it again and if not, then get your a$$ out and get this movie now. Now the acting is great for the level it's on. But Robert England as always, steals the show from everybody on this flick. Kelly also does a fine job in her first acting role, she and FREDDY have a special and funny scene together. Ken Kirzinger does a neat job in filling in some big shoes left by Kane Hodder. Love this movie and all it's violence of the best fight of all time between the two men who scared the sh** out of me when I was little. Now that's a FIGHT!!!!!
