Came across this by accident and what a fortunate accident it was. This is a good movie. Well acted and directed and a good original story. I always like Casey. He's a great understated actor. Can't find any flaw in his acting or anyone else all bring their A game. Not sure why some of the negative reviews. Maybe we saw different pictures??? The sets are minimal and it goes well with the storyline. I find the director did a really good job at sticking to the story. I've thought alot about this movie since seeing it and plan on watching it again I enjoyed it that much. I was questioning the ending right up to the end-thats a good movie when you don't see it coming.

For some reason I don't get all the praise heaped on this movie. I find it ok. Nothing I would watch twice( and really haven't). So what am I missing on this film? Acting ok, story ok, what am I missing? I know it was nominated for academy awards and maybe (not really) it's earns them. But for the life of me I can't believe this is the #1 movie of all times???? I'm not trying to be an ass truly. But of all time? The direction seems to be adequate the lighting is good all the boxes are ticked-still don't get it. I feel like I could name five better films off the top of my head. Amadeus I think is 10 times the picture over Shawshank. Just to name one. Ok now I'll stop.

Granted it's not Glee. But I'll take it. It's fun and peppy. Acting is no better than the original. And you really shouldn't complain. The diversity is noticeable and welcoming. Get over all the unrealistic portrayals. What you mean is everyone is not white. I think it has potential. Granted I didn't know Balinsiaga was around in the 50's but so what. High school was never this fun. Granted I loved the original but at least in this version they look like teenagers. ONJ and Travolta looked 30 or better in the original. Sit back and just enjoy. It's fun and silly and I think captures the fun of the original.
