  • Pig is a compelling film

Pig starring Nicholas Cage is the kind of film I would have loved to direct. When I heard the premise I laughed. When I watched the film I did not. It surprised me and Cage's performance was a thing of beauty to watch. Written and directed by Michael Sarnoski this film was one of my favorites of the year. Go in knowing nothing and enjoy this gem of a movie.

  • Horrible and overrated piece of cinema trying to come off as art!

Just trudged through The Lost Daughter written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal (a fine actress who should never be allowed to direct a motion picture again) and starring the great Olivia Colman. I've had a better time at the dentist's office! This film was pure misery and time I will never get back in my life! My wife and I even stopped it 52 minutes in and sometime later decided to finish it. It goes nowhere fast and finally when it gets a tad interesting it just ends-THANK THE LORD! BTW-When you cast the WONDERFUL Ed Harris be sure to give him something to do besides a scene where he's dancing by himself like a PEANUTS character. Olivia Colman also kidnaps a child's doll. I STILL CAN'T BELIEF THE NONSENSE THAT HAPPENED IN THIS FILM! The Lost Daughter should have stayed lost. This film is a BOMB bigger than the one Slim Pickens rode at the end of Doctor Strangelove. And this film got 3 Oscar nominations?!

  • The Sunset is not Limited

Two men trapped in a room with their opposing beliefs. The words of Cormac McCarthy. The direction of Tommy Lee Jones. The powerhouse combination of Samuel L. Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones. Two actors. One room. Big Ideas. Emotions run high. The essence of Drama is Conflict.

This 90 minute look at two men's opposing beliefs is strong and will resonate with the viewer long after it is over. It's the story of a man who wants to end his life and another man who wants to save it. What rings true is the direction of Tommy Lee Jones. It gels so well with the words of Cormac McCarthy.

These two actors gel even better making it all the richer. Jackson has the flashier role where Jones plays his complexly understated. If any actor could raise your heart rate by talking it's Sam Jackson. His character's belief in God is sincere and matched with Jones's dark, realistic view of the world.

Speaking of realistic-Don't go looking for a neat ending. This film stays true to it's subject matter and these actors stay even truer to their characters. Jones, as a student of theater and literature, knows as a director to let the words live and breathe. Because he does Jackson and him make a monument out of two chairs and a table in a small room. This sunset is anything but limited.
