  • Even better than the first one

This is one of the best sequel I've ever watched since Terminator 2. The movie is highly enjoyable, not a single minute of film has been wasted. I particularly like the way Gore Verbinski has reenacted relationships among main characters and rebuilt the new plot, just as Lucas did with The Empire Strikes Back. All the characters did a good job: Keira Knightley shines as Elizabeth Swann strengthening her presence in the action times, Johnny Depp is as wonderful as usual, Orlando Bloom plays a much better part than in the former movie thanks to the more intricate and compelling plot. Good acting, great action and magnificent settings make this movie a perfect 10. Don't miss it!

  • Just for Italian B-movies lovers !

This movie is a quite interesting example of how a simple plot like this one can be enriched by the talent of the two main actors (Greta Scacchi and the kid). It's definitely not among the string of the best Italian movies of the late '80 (let me put clear, it's a B-movie!), but still has some good points like the wonderful Sicilian setting and the "gorgeous" acting of the leading actress Greta Scacchi. I have seen her in many other English and Australian movies, but I think that in this one she's at her top, more beautiful than ever (look for the sex scene in the motel's bedroom with the kid). Personally I think the mob story it's just an excuse for justifying the morbid curiosity of the director over Greta.

  • Fine but not great

I watched this movie for the first time the summer I got my high-school degree, in 2002 (I was already too old for what I think being the real target of this movie). I found the first half of the movie quite boring, much better is the second half where the plot becomes more complex and reaches its climax.I think this movie definitely suits more with American teenager taste rather than with the European teenager one. However the movie is not pointless, its criticism over some of the attitudes which characterized American society during the 50's is carried on pretty well, even though sometimes the director overdoes the sense of the plot becoming in several spots dull and tedious. I dislike Maguire (Bud) in his role of the wise and sensitive boy, while Reese Witherspoon (Mary Sue) was just fine in her seductive girl role.
