  • The less said the better.

Vikrant Massey has developed a niche for himself where he's a bit below the likes of Rajkummar Rao & Ayushmann Khurana, he's a talented chap who can deliver.

I remember Vikrant from his Disney Channel days where he was one of the characters in a show (can't recall the name) and he was the most recognizable from that show and surely became the biggest star from that show. Also, watched him in S01 of Criminal Justice and he did a great job in it as well.

Coming to the movie, the movie's take is good no doubt. Vikrant did a great job. Raashi Khanna was also decent to good in her role as an intern who sees Riddhi Dogra as her role model.

Riddhi Dogra was her stunning best in this movie in my opinion. This is the second movie of hers which I watched on the big screen (after Jawan where she played the aged Kaveri Amma role to SRK) and have seen very few works of hers, Riddhi Dogra is surely a very beautiful face and she was looking elegant in this movie despite being on the antagonist side and she did her role convincingly.

Apart from that, my overall rating for this entire movie is 2/10 and the ratings are only for these 3 actors and the director's decision to make a movie on such a sensitive topic of 2002 riots.

  • What if Kabir Singh becomes a cop?

Shahid Kapoor kills it and lifts the movie with his presence.

I'm not any die hard fan of Shahid but I'm somewhat aware of his talent. From being a chocolate boy to doing heavy lifting author-backed roles, he is a reliable hand from his generation as he has the talent to justify the roles. He dances very well too. After Kabir Singh (2019), Deva was the first movie of his, which I watched in a theatre.

Though there are huge traces of Kabir Singh's aggression (and also appearing like a Kabir Singh extension), Deva feels more like what Ranveer Singh's Simmba could've been given Simmba's character as a Marathi cop who is funny, sarcastic yet powerful.

By now, we all know Deva is a remake of the Malayalam movie, Mumbai Police (I haven't watched it and wasn't aware but will definitely watch it someday soon).

The setting of the movie and the pace was good. The only song although sits right in the beginning, is not friendly to the ears. It just highlights the dancing skills of Shahid. Shahid looks way more muscular and a perfect fit for this role be it his haircut and body language.

Pooja Hegde was decent. Looks good on the screen and does her best given the limited presence of the role. Pravesh Rana (UTV Bindass' Emotional Atyachaar host) also appears to be on a hangover of being Emotional Atyachaar host as his character also appears to be an extension of the TV show. Rest all just come and contribute well as per their character requirement. Apte guy was also menacing in 1-2 scenes with his expressions. But as I said earlier, it's an out and out Shahid Kapoor show. He does his best in being a more menacing version of Simmba.

Positives: 1. Background score 2. Shahid Kapoor's acting 3. Choice of supporting characters 4. Direction

Negatives: 1. I felt the second half to be a bit losing 2. Although not related to the actual movie, but a lack of promotion for this film.
