  • This was Amazing! Loved it!

The concept and the execution of this movie are AWESOME!

The acting is fine. Keke Palmer is great!

This is definitely a message heavy movie, if you arent in the mood for that, you may not enjoy it. It is very intense, especially in the first 1/3 of the movie. Its difficult. But then to combine the history of slavery in America with Blacksploitation films is Brilliant! I loved this movie. It has some messages including that even though slavery has "ended" it still Continues.... This is an incredible juxtaposition of the era of Slavery in American History, against somewhat Modern racism, post Emancipation Proclamation... its awesome, i highly encourage people to see this!

Deapite being message heavy it is also very suspenseful and thrilling and very satisfying!

  • DONT DO IT! ITS A TRAP!

Why do they still give this man money to make movies?

This is absolutely one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It breaks a hole in the space-time continuum. I did not know it was a Shaymalan movie when I started it, until I saw his name in the opening credits. I said "Uh oh, he hasn't made a good movie since 'The Sixth Sense,' but maybe this is watchable like 'Old' was." Nope, it is not. Not even close.

The premise is ridiculous, i cant even imagine how it would ever come to be. The Police have created a Concert event in order to "Trap" a serial killer... "OH! Ooookay M Night.... Whatever!" They dont know who the serial killer is or what he looks like but somehow know he'll be at this concert. And it only gets worse from here. It transcends one's ability to suspend disbelief. M Night has obviously NEVER been to a concert. Because what Obsessed Fan would ever leave their seat to go wondering around the hallways for Merch and Pretzels DURING THE SHOW? Sure, some people who came with a fan, but may not be the biggest fan themselves, may step out to use the bathroom or grab a drink during a costume change, But, these hallways were packed and the Concession stands had long lines, and the Merch vendors were selling out of items DURING the show. Oh! And IRL when one vendor sells out of a thing, you go to another.... They dont get "Restocked" at intermittant intervals. "Im sorry, we're out of that shirt, but I'll be getting some more soon. If you come back in about 10 minutes, I'll have some more" its not like they're cooking the shirts in the back and we're waiting for them to come out of the oven. And in 10 minutes I should be in my seat enjoying the show ive paid hundreds of dollars to come see! Why would i be out in the hallways? The ridiculousness continues when the Merch guy takes him "backstage", and we get to see the level of intelligence of the police who have put this whole plan together. For this sting, the head police guy is describing the victims, not the guy they are looking for, and says the guy is a monster and "go get him!" Essentially, meanwhile the guy is right there and the police are like "excuse me, do you have any sugar for the coffee?" (They dont get any smarter). There are also so many things that happen in this movie that would NEVER happen in reality from how the police behave, to how Vendor Employees behave, to things that happen with the concert, that continue to make this movie more and more unwatchable. It is impossible to even let yourself get pulled into this world to TRY and enjoy it.

One also has to wonder how the hell this Fictitious Performance Artist got so popular. They talk about her like she's Taylor Swift or Madonna or that level of popularity. But the girl playing the performer is awful. She is so wooden in her "performance" that she could be out-acted by a potato. I found out after I turned this movie off (i did not finish it) that this "actress" is M Night's Daughter. In fact I turned it off when M Night's character said "Oh Im actually her Uncle" .... I said "Thats it. Im out. I can not waste another second on this movie, except to find out if that is M Nights daughter IRL" and it was.

    The End.

  • Frustrating

I started off really enjoying this movie, and there was a lot of suspense for me. But, about half way through I realized that no matter how this movie ends, its not going to be a happy situation. Then it kinda felt like a waste of time. I think it might have done better as kind of like a "Sliding Doors" situation where you see what happens after they get torn apart, and what would have happened if they had made their date. I might have enjoyed it more. If I were going to compare this to another film it would be Brokeback Mountain. There are a lot of similarities in that two men meet, fall in love, then go on to lead separate lives. Nuovo Olimpo however, they dont meet up in the summers, its more of a "will they ever find each other again? And if they do what will happen?"

The acting and the directing was fine ane there were some clever devices used as well as creative dialogue that made me think "Huh! Well thats clever!"

Also the leads are both very easy on the eyes, and there are a couple of very steamy scenes.

Overall its a well made movie and even though I had some issues with the plot, its nice to see a quality movie with gay leads. They are few any far between.
