Aswath has previously done a film called Oh My Kadavule and with Dragon, we can say that he is an amazing screenwriter who can create wonderful emotional moments as well as feel good moments. Here, we see a college dropout who cheats his way into success to prove his ex wrong, but when all is going well he runs into an old professor who forces him to finish his degree in one go. Pradeep does well in the jolly carefree scenes but he does need to work on his emotional/break down scenes. Mysskin plays the role of a strict professor really well. I loved how every single character in this film is written to help the protagonist grow. The message the film tells you will definitely be important for todays youth who believe in achieving everything fast. I believe Aswath will be one of the most promising directors in Tamil cinema who knows the formula to make the audience cry, laugh and stay emotionally invested in his film.
After a long time, Tamil Cinema has given a proper feel good film which is both soul stirring and makes you feel good when you walk out of the film. The characters may also stay with you after it is done as both Arulmozhi and Meiyazhagan are well written. The story is about a man who leaves his village in his teenage years due to a property dispute, and is forced to come back for his sisters wedding. He meets a man there, who truly admires him but he has no clue who he is. Despite the film only having scenes related to a marriage episode and two people talking, the director somehow manages to invest you in his film. The background music is great, the cinematography is great, and the writing is also great. However, Karthi and Aravind Swamy live their characters. Karthi plays a person from the village who is full of love but can be annoying at times. Aravind Swamy is a reserved, almost introverted character who hates/loves his village. These characters, as well as the others like Arulmozhis dad, Rajkiran, Meiyazhagans wife, etc are filled with love and I believe that is what brought the magic in this film. It is rare to see a film where almost every single character are good people and well written as well (even the flower lady in the end of the film). Overall, this is definitely a good watch which will make you both feel good and also make you think of your relationships once the film is over.
