I loved it to the point of not wanting to know why some people didn't. It's just too precious a gem to subject to that kind of scrutiny. I have no desire to try to understand the detractors. If you enjoy it, you enjoy it. If you enjoy it like I enjoyed it, you'll be welling up with tears.
[I've tried not to give spoilers, but imo most reviews are spoilers, to some extent.] 10 stars, but sad ones, to this film that darkly illuminates a rather bleak, albeit unrelenting, slice of the human struggle. Feeling pain watching it tonight, but it is the beautiful pain, or painful beauty, of art... and of a poignant story, trenchantly told... with excellent, persuasive acting and (I presume) equally excellent directing. Soundtrack and pacing rhyme compellingly. Editing, cinematography, all of it. Bravi to all.
Never heard of this film before searching for crime comedies (one of our fav genres) on Netflix tonight. Over the top absurd and silly, totally enjoyable. Laughs, chuckles, spit takes. We just watched it and already I can see that we're going to be quoting it and laughing for a long time to come.
