I saw this movie at Fantasia film festival. I had high expectation because I've liked Battle field baseball. The movie starts like a bomb! Loud rock n roll music, cool characters and good gags! But it doesn't last very long, after 30 minutes the pumped-on-speed mood is gone and jokes become less n less funny. this movie should be 1hour long, not 2, it just feels empty. its not a bad movie, its an average Japanese comedy, its very different from American movies, give it a try. if you wanna see a very good comedy i recommend you Karaoke Terror, i promise you will not regret it, its from the writer of Audition ( you know , the movie from Miike).
This movie is very short, 1hour , it looks almost like a short.
First of all the story is very basic... a girl quits her village to study in Tokyo because of a guy she likes. the movie tries to describe loneliness but its just not deep enough, poor symbolism and poor dialogues. It brings nothing new, the director made a very basic job. The photography is average, nothing new there. The acting is OK but the characters are very basic and not complex so its normal the actors performance is not blazing. However if you don't wanna think and just relax this movie is OK. I recommend Dolls of Takeshi Kitano and Fallen Angels of Wong Kar Wai if you want to see deeper movies, well directed and with an extraordinary photography.

Excellent movie,subtile and sensual,great story but it seems not to be that clear for average American people, if your the kind of people that loves action movie from Hollywood, cute and sweet American love story forget this movie. Its like Chinese people disliking Won Kar Wai movies in general, finding them ''senseless''. If you liked it i strongly recommend you Cyclo from the same director, little more action but still beautiful. And you should try The scent of the green papaya since its his bigger success maybe you'll like it more. thank you for this movie -Mk- why the .. do i have to fill thoss 10 lines well writing anything will do i guess. peace, make love not war. joy and health for all.
