"Backdraft" (1991) is a very solid film. The all star cast here works for good - while on paper this movies plot shouldn't have worked. Great director Ron Howard brought a life to this film - every scene here just pulses and this movie never gets boring. Clearly "Backdraft" is one of those films that were not meant for critics but rather for general audiences. Special effects involving fire still looks great, and sound design is terrific here. But its acting and directing of this material makes this movie work and combining with terrific production values makes this film work.
Overall, "Backdraft" is a good movie. Great actors did great work, production values are good and directing by Ron Howard is excellent. Not a great film, but a good guilty pleasure film.

The first film ever made by great Coen brothers was "Blood Simple" (1984). It is impossible to properly review and experience this film when watching it for a first time in 2025. It is because of a future films there directors made were far more brilliant, and many directors tried to copy or mimic their style during decades. Therefore i have seen many films with similar theme and style. And only recently watched "Blood Simple". I'm sure that if seen it for the first time in 1984, this film would have hit me way harder.
"Blood Simple" is a memorable film because of its story, which is very darkly is funny. It features a first time role of future multiple Oscars winner Frances McDormand. Screenplay was very good. This film is a very slow burning kinda noir drama / thriller. It works for what its going for, but its a rough around the edges film as well.

"Ratatouille" (2007) was and still is a great movie made by Pixar in their golden age of animation. There was a time when they were making banger after banger and every film that came out outdid the previous one - they were all brilliant. Luckily "Ratatouille" was made in that time, with brilliant writer and director Brad Bird at the helm. This is an incredible film that is probably more enjoyable to grown ups. The story here is great, screenplay is smart and genuinely funny, and the shole Paris setting is just awesome. Music was fantastic. Voice acting was great, especially by the legendary Peter O'Toole.
Overall, "Ratatouille" is definitely will leave one smiling. Recently have been rewatching it on UHD release and this film is still a fantastic all those years later. Great movie.
