I am an actor, writer, producer, and director, specializing in westerns. As an actor, starting in 1963, I have over 40 film, TV and live performance credits ranging from a background extra to starring rolls giving me over 48 years of experience. Some of my work can be seen on TV shows like Wild West Tech where I played many cowboy types or on the back of a horse in other westerns like Brothers in Arms where I portrayed a gunfighter. I am a member of Screen Actors Guild but have also worked in many other areas of film production including behind the scenes as well as in front of the camera. I also have performed a great number of live shows with my family. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with many talented people and have learned the craft from my own experiences, from fellow film makers, and from my own family. My mother, Gypsy Bell Groat, was a child actor for MGM in the 1940s, and my Grandfather, Clifford Groat, was a director for the old silent films and early talkies at Pathé Studios. I grew up wanting to be an actor, and movie maker. In 1983 I wrote the script for - The Shooting - Story of the Kane Brothers, and set out with my family to produce it as an independent film. My love for westerns started as a child, and has been ongoing. As a producer and director I have written several scripts, produced and directed three of my own projects, film shorts, videos, and films for other producers, but the project I am most proud of is this one, The Shooting, as it is very close to my heart, and we did it as a family. I also work as an educator with special needs children for the Simi Valley School District, and I love my work. Most importantly, I am a father and husband, and enjoy and consider that work to be more important than anything. I teach art, and sing - when no one is too close to hear me, that is. I own, and perform in, “The Groat Family Wild West Show” and have been since 1964. I love to tell a good story, and I also sometimes illustrate children's books. “I see our western film history as an important part of our American roots, and one of the foundations of our artistic culture.” — Rick Groat

  • A good action film, good lead ( Billy Eagle)

I am proud to say that I did the lead pert as Billy Eagle, and wrote the original story and script this film is based on. I co-produced the film, and was the first executive producer. I loved working with my co stars Bill Smith, and James Van Patton, and my brother Tag Groat played the Preacher man. This is a good action film, and has good direction. The leading lady was a joy to work with, and a real pro. We used many real bikers, and they were the best . We had a small budget, and if we were able to do an other film like it, I'm sure it would be a very good film. You can see more about me, and what I am doing at my page here on IMDb. So come chat. Also, check out Highway Warrior, as it has some of the same elements as this film, as it was made with much of the same crew, and cast. I would spend the money to buy the DVD.

  • A good film, entertaining.

I am proud to say that I did the featured part as the western actor boy toy, in the scenes of the movie within the movie with the leading lady. I had a great time working on the film. I loved working with my co stars and the crew. This is a good film, and has good direction. The leading lady was a joy to work with, and a real pro, they were the best. You can see more about me, and what I am doing at my page here on IMDb. So come chat. Also, check out my films section and have fun. I would spend the money to buy the DVD. A bit of behind the scenes history, when I was on horseback doing a chase scene, one of the other horses broke and ran hitting my horse over, and I fell right in front of the camera, and hurt my splene, and needed to get medical help for it, but not till I finished all my scenes, and action. • A great " B " horror film, worth the price of the DVD.

Great leading man, sure I'd say that, it was me ( Rick Groat ), I am proud to say that I co-produced and star in this good old fun, action horror movie, with my co star brother Tag Groat as the Devil Rider. I did a change of character for this one as a yuppie type dude taking some folks to a ranch to buy property, only to find out that it was being terrorized by an outlaw from H..., and things get hairy. I had a great time doing this film with some very good film makers, stunt men, and actors. Check out the e-f-x, as they are very creative, as we had a small budget, and had to be very inventive. This film is a great B horror movie, and combines the old west with the new. Check it out, it is worth the price of the DVD, I have one. Rick Groat. Come see my page here on IMDb.
