a buddy of mine bought all 5 pilots on ebay a couple of years back and i got a chance to watch them.the shows known as the fox pilots could have been put together better but it was still a watchable show.if you are a super fan of the stern show you will dig them.they reminded me of the negligee underpants party VHS that stern put out around the same time.kinda boring at times but watchable the things that stuck out the most were the opening with Jackie and Fred and Leslie West as the band leader amazing house band.some of the bits were funny and the guest were great but definitely tamed down compared to the radio show or the channel 9 show a few years later.if i remember correctly they taped them in may of 1987.after watching them you can understand why fox didn't air them the show just wasn't that funny and being a late night talk show people like Letterman and Carson would have crushed the show with their own ratings.i don't think the stern show was ready yet. its good to see stern so early in his career,if you can still find them on ebay and your a super fan its worth a watch
greatest stern TV show, far superior...the billy west bits, the guests....Sam Kinison,Joe Walsh,Richard Simmons,. if you like old school stern and have not seen the channel 9 shows you are missing a lot.this show had nothing to do with the radio show like the c.b.s. and e show did.the channel 9 show was the greatest...i cant believe it hasn't been released on VHS or DVD,i think there were 69 episodes you can watch them on the net but they are from old VHS recordings but still good to re watch after 20 years...the copies on the net bring back great memories from days past.i beg to whoever has the masters to release them on DVD.i know I'm not the only person who would pay top dollar for them on DVD
