You know how when you finish one show on the Peacock app, it will automatically roll into whole new episode of a random series? Well that's how I found this one. Normally, I can't back out fast enough, but this one hooked me within 30 seconds. The soundtrack helped, but it was mostly the dialogue that sucked me in. I really enjoy this show. It deals with some seriously bad issues, but in a sweet way. I love how 3 heartbroken, seriously walled up people can come together through weirdness and humor. Not a lot of gore at all, it's mostly about the human connection and taking chances to let the guards down. I love this show, so I don't expect it to last long. I hope they prove me wrong!
This is NOT like the books. Not one bit. So, to save yourself from complete and utter disgust, I would suggest taking the series as something completely separate from Anne Rice's stories. The writers took complete liberties to warp and abstract Ms. Rice's characters and story line. They've combined two major characters in the 1st book, erasing each character's storyline, and created one weak character with a anticlimactic storyline. If you haven't read the series, it might be best to wait until the end of the season if you're sucked into it.
I'm really disgusted, actually. I've been waiting for this series for 20+ years, when we were first teased about it happening. I was sincerely hoping it would be treated as carefully as Game of Thrones to protect the integrity of the story and characters. I guess that's difficult to do with the author's passing. Still, I don't understand how Christopher could have allowed his mother's works to be butchered so haphazardly.

This investigation had the potential to be amazing. What ruined it for me was the distraction of the cheesy sound effects and background tracks. They should have omitted that mess, or hired someone who knew what they were doing. This could have been a great, believable investigation.
