This film has everything I would ever want in a movie. As a lover of science fiction, cats, humor, and an engaging plot, TCFOS checks all those boxes.
The title itself is what initially drew me in, but within minutes I was captivated and was held throughout. The premise is just funny and likable, as we all know how intelligent cats are, and one from outer space is just perfect. The friendship that's built between Jake (cat) and Frank (scientist) is cute and earnest. It isn't forced, and despite the many twists and turns they encounter, they never stop helping each other out. I did even think to myself during the film, why only $120,000? Why not a million? It just adds to the fact they (Frank and his two adult accomplices, which by the way, the entire film is all adults) were never out to exploit Jake, like the others unsuccessfully attempt.
This is a feel good family movie for all ages and all audiences. I was born 20 something years after it was released, so I didn't watch it growing up. However, I throughly enjoyed every moment even as an adult. The special effects are about what you'd expect from a 70's flick. And that's quite alright with me.

This is my first review on here. I just had to say something after watching this masterpiece. The cinematography is breathtaking with aerial views of mountainous landscapes. That being the perfect contrast for a dark steel and glass "house" in which research is conducted over a few days. I was captivated the entire film with wonderful performances by all 3 main characters, and a never ending amount of twists and turns that I did not see coming. Although it may have been more predictable to others, it kept me on the edge of my seat. It's hard to know what or who to believe and it presents a strikingly dangerous side of AI that is as terrifying as it likely: manipulation.
All in all it was a great watch and I will be adding it to my list to watch again. It's not a long movie either so if you have 100 minutes to kill and you're considering - go for it.

Poor, unconvincing acting, but brings light to an ongoing issue in America. Wouldn't watch it again but wasn't entirely uninterested.
