Oh my word! Where to start? Zero chemistry between the two lead characters! Nicole Kidman - fair enough - she's had a bit of work done but she retains a certain something. The other guy - very good in The Triangle of to Sadness but, in this, seems like some idiot savant in an anorak. There's no rhyme nor reason as to how they end up together. It's a mess to begin with and it only gets weird as it tries to box-tick it's way to glory. Honestly, what kind of lives do the people who up-voted this love or what kind of cinema do they watch? This is beyond drivel. And not because of the sexual content or any lack of morality or anything like that. I'm no prude, I've seen all sorts but this is just simply not believable. Everything is awkward and nothing about it is believable. Characters like this may exist in real life but it would take a million universes for them to act this way with each other. Honestly, my brain is broken after this. One of the worst movies that I have ever seen. I like Nicole Kidman, I like Antonio Banderas and I liked the other guy in The Triangle Of Sadness (whose name I can't be bothered to look up now) but this is an inexplicable travesty. You can find tenuous arguments to mine here if you're so inclined but I wouldn't ... I just wouldn't. If this is what the current generation think sex or eroticism or anything is about then we're doomed as a species anyway. Might as well "burn baby burn" if this is the future! The only way is up from here!

  • Ok but not as good as it probably could have been.

I'm just gonna start with this: riding around on a bicycle wearing headphones with music blasting is kinda asking for trouble .. and trouble is what it leads to in this movie.

Had higher hopes for this movie based on its current 7.0 scoring but was a bit disappointed. It's not that it's bad. The acting as good and it's reasonably well shot but ...

Well, for me, the movie was overlong and became somewhat repetitive in its deal/no deal/double-cross looping. The dialogue was too full of mumbling semi southern drawl to be intelligible. The story seemed a bit tenuous to be really believable in this day and age and the actual ending was actually bit "wtf?". The action choreography also seemed a little slow at times. I dunno ... With a bit of chopping out certain scenes, a little plot update and some better sound in places, this could have been a better flick imo. Not bad but just seems a little bit of a wasted opportunity.

  • Outstanding in many aspects but story a little flat and overlong

This film looks amazing and has a great cast that all do an astounding job. The film also has many darkly funny moments despite the subject matter. However it will not be all things to all people and, despite wanting to really liked it, I found myself a little bored by the pacing in the latter half of the movie and found the story, heading reached lofty heights with its setup, failed to really hit home at the end. I just felt that there could have been more to it. As a cinematic experience though, this is really out there though there are many, many familiar influences behind some of the scenes (Bram Stoker Dracula for instance has some bearing on some earlier scenes one feels). That said, whatever inspirations came from elsewhere, this remains a truly original work and one that probably deserves to be seen at least once. Purely for the story, it would be maybe a 5 or 6 out of 10 for me but the cinematography and acting are superb so I'll bring it up to a 7/10 overall and, though I wouldn't necessarily be rushing to watch it again soon , it has certainly left a mark!
