Keep it brief review:
"Oddity" A medium uncovers the truth behind her sister's brutal murder. Returning to the scene of the crime, using haunted objects to seek revenge on those involved. Oddity is a rare breath of fresh air in the horror community. While not reinventing the wheel, Oddity has its most effective moments due to the creepy atmosphere and simple plot throughout the its runtime.
Oddity is not the scariest recent horror movie but it does feature some great jump scares (never thought I'd say that). However the caveat issue is when oddity wants to take bigger steps forward, it unfortunately takes two back. While remaining creepy and effective for a lower budget film, Oddity suffers from predictable storytelling.
Despite its shortcomings, it's hard not to appreciate what this film is trying to do. Ultimately audiences will have to make their own decision but for now....
3 out of 5
Positives: + Creepy tense atmosphere throughout ODdity's runtime
+ Great performance from cast but especially Carolyn Bracken
+Some good scares
Negatives:
Rating: 3 out of 5.

"Alien: Romulus" Follows a crew of young colonizers, scavenging a derelict space station; in the hopes of stealing equipment to help them escape there always dark mining planet. As expected things don't go as planned.....
Alien Romulus is Fede Alvarez's love letter to the Alien universe. Cementing its own legacy among "Alien" and "Aliens". Expertly paced, with a tight script and excellent cast; Romulus is full of surprises and eggs (pun intended). The special and visual effects are top notch.
The surprises of this film breathe new life into the Alien franchise. While also taking lessons in tension and slow burn horror from the original 1979 picture. Fans and those new to the Alien franchise will both be more than happy with the end result. Ultimately I think Romulus will enter classic territory....and rumours of another 15 min longer cut...leave me wanting more and a 2nd theatrical viewing. This is the summer...and finally...finally the Alien blockbuster you have been waiting for.
Positives: + Amazing special effects and visual effects.
+ Good Cast.
+ tight well written script.
+ Returns to the horror roots of the original while adding some new elements to create a new legacy.
+ A standalone film that will be a great entry points for new fans and those who are diehards.
Negatives:
Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Keep it brief review:
"Borderlands" is not a good movie. There straight to the point. Is it as bad as everyone says it is? No. Make no mistake Borderlands is not a good movie, however it's nowhere near the disaster some are painting it out to be. Plagued by production issues, rewrites, reshoots, and dead on arrival hype. Borderlands had a lot going against it...when in reality it should have been the opposite.
Borderlands the game, is known for fun lore, guns, adventure, humour and more. There is a wealth of stuff that the writers could have drawn from...however it's like they played the game for 2 hours and decided I know enough. Borderlands is simply boring, uninspired, middle of the row film. It should have been a great summer blockbuster...but sadly we are left with a very average movie. Some may enjoy it...most probably won't.
If you're seeing it in the Theatre...save it for cheap night otherwise, I'd recommend a skip, and play the games instead.
Positives: + Visually looks pretty good, and does Pandora mostly justice in terms of visual design.
+ it's....a shorter movie.....that's it for positives pretty much.
Negatives:
Rating: 2 out of 5.

Negatives:
- Poor script and character development. The video games have so much lore and interesting settings and characters. Unfortunately the film chooses not waste any potential.
- Boring and Flat story. Constantly just moving forward, never do we feel that there are any consequences at stake.
- No gore, or over the top violence to be found here.
- Eli Roth was the wrong pick to direct.
Rating: 2 out of 5.
