A new genre of dark comedy was just born with this remarkable work from Writer Director Michael Erger. The most difficult element of true absurd-comedy, is to know how to work with the absurd without becoming silly. Only when it's played on a dramatic tone is when it works, and in Pescador it does work.
Pescador--Spanish for Fisherman--refers to its main character brilliantly played by Michael Erger, who is at all times "fishing for" that something that might help his girlfriend come out of her psychotic depression. The well written script is about an uncomfortable--beyond awkward--proposal during a regular barbeque get together . Its superb dialogues come to life by the impeccable work of an astounding cast that delivers them with such a dramatic intensity, that allows us at the same time to also explore several themes, namely existence, survivable , loyalty, love, respect, insanity and why not, humanity's stupidity at its best. I think this movie is brilliant, the technical aspects of it are top notch, and the musical part of it are impressively well done. From the humor of the lyrics, to the quality of the singers, the choreography, editing and direction. Amazing work! Kudos to everyone involved in this movie. Finally, there's a thin line between comedy and drama--where comedy is drama--and Pescador, never crosses that line but made that line thinner indeed.

Such a great Indie film. Congrats to everyone who was involved making this film ! Indie films are so hard to accomplish due to the luck of money, time, equipment, big crews and even sleep deprivation but you guys showed to be fighters and accomplished the impossible. Great work. Some moments are reminiscence of Halloween helped by a good cinematic music score. I enjoyed watching it.
Well done!
Well done!
C. J. Julianus' satirical, comical idea of a dominatrix being dominated is so wonderful, and yet so hard to execute without jeopardizing that enjoyable, sense of danger that the film has.
I enjoyed watching a film that takes chances and is full of possibilities. The Misadventures of Mistress Maneater has a sense of adventure around every scenes, executed with an impressive professional overall look to it and great performances. The cinematic flow and rhythm achieved by the eye of talented Director CJ Julianus make this film good entertainment. Lorrisa Julianus' solid central performance helps to advance the story and to keeping us to wanting to know more and more until the end. If I had to adjust something I would tune-up the structure of the story/plot points, and I'd make the narration by the main character louder. Overall, "The Misadventures of Mistress Maneater" is a great romantic comedy with good humor in it. I really recommend it!
