Have just watched Femme Fatale on DVD and thought it was fantastic.I notice alot of reviews say he is ripping off Hitchcock etc but what else do you expect from a De Palma film? The opening sequence was worth the price alone for the visuals and the music. The so-called twist about two thirds of the way through was handled well and I just went with it. Its a film I think needs to be seen several times. Looking forward to his next effort. By the way the film never made it to the cinemas here and went straight to DVD.If this was your first De Palma experience I suggest you check out Blow Out or Obession and one of his early efforts, The Fury.Had to write this review in support of a great Director.
This film seems to alienate alot of people. I first saw it on its release and loved it. In fact when the credits rolled I could have sat there and seen it all again.By the way I couldn't read the book so I am not comparing it to anything. Have since seen it several times and have never been disappointed. Reminds me of those great epics David Lean uI dosed to make. Glad Anthony is keeping the tradition alive!I do agree that some of the flashbacks were confusing but several viewings should sort that out. This is in my list of favourite movies and I don't see it dropping out any time soon
I first saw this movie 30 years ago, and it still remains as fresh and timely as when it was made. I have always been a Patty Duke fan, and even if you aren't you should check this out for the acting of both lead actors. A masterpiece!
